Donkey Loaded with Salt and Donkey Loaded with Sponge

Once upon a time in a far country lived a clever peddler. One day;

The peddler, who learned that salt was sold cheaper by the sea, took his donkey and set out. The owner of the donkey was also in good spirits. The peddler bought a lot of salt by the sea and loaded it on his donkey. The animal could hardly walk under the heavy salt load. The poor donkey’s back was bent from the weight. He couldn’t go the way he had come with pleasure.

While the peddler and the donkey were crossing a path by a river , the foot of the donkey, who was carrying his load with difficulty, slipped and fell into the water with the salt sacks on his back. The salt dissolved in the water and the burden of the bent donkey was lightened.

The peddler bought more salt to cover his previous loss and loaded it on his donkey. Trying to walk with difficulty, the donkey threw himself into the water willingly this time while crossing the same path.The salt dissolved in the water and the donkey was freed from its burden again. The peddler made a loss while trying to make money. He understood that the donkey fell into the water willingly. The peddler loaded a sponge on his donkey two days later.He went to the seaside with his donkey.

While the smart donkey was crossing the path, he threw himself into the water again to play the same game. This time, the sponges absorbing the water became heavy like stones. The ears of the donkey, which came out of the water with great difficulty, fell off. He left your house, brooding to himself, ‘Why didn’t my load get lighter?’
